CCC Foundation Awarded Charitable Grant from Boeing
New Grant Will Fund CCC Corpsmember Development
SACRAMENTO, CA: The California Conservation Corps Foundation (CCCF) has been selected as a recipient of Boeing’s new charitable grants package. This $55 million package from Boeing will support over 400 nonprofit organizations like the Foundation through 2019 and beyond.
The new grant from Boeing will fund training and development for corpsmembers from four southern California CCC centers and the Norwalk CCC Energy Corps center. These corpsmembers will receive Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training, which will prepare them for the mitigation and removal of hazardous substances.
After the 40-hour HAZWOPER training is complete, 200 corpsmembers will be trained and equipped to work on post-fire and flood recovery emergency projects. They will have a special focus on restoring areas and communities that suffered extensive fire damage as a result of the recent fires throughout California.
Adam Somers, Executive Director of the CCC Foundation, expressed enthusiasm as the Foundation secured funding from Boeing’s grant.
“The CCC Foundation is delighted to receive this grant from Boeing. This opportunity allows the CCC to increase its capacity to help California recover from any natural disaster,” Somers stated.
The CCC Foundation secured this grant as part of its ongoing commitment to the support and development of CCC corpsmembers. The Foundation uses donations and grants like these to invest in programs that cover:
This grant from Boeing and the opportunities it offers are consistent with the Foundation’s mission of supporting the men and women of the California Conservation Corps as they work to protect California’s natural resources.
