The California Conservations Corps Foundation announced today that it has joined
dozens of environmental groups in supporting Proposition 4 on California’s November
ballot.
Proposition 4 is a comprehensive $10 billion climate bond measure to fund a wide array
of environmental projects, including clean energy, flood protection, fire
suppression/forest health, habitat restoration, sea rise mitigation, and water
infrastructure. In addition, Proposition 4 will provide funds to expand and renovate
state and local parks and help communities and farmers deal with the effects of climate
change.
A portion of Prop. 4 funding will be earmarked for the California Conservation Corps and
local conservation corps throughout the state to provide the manpower for much of the
environmental work. Since its inception in 1976, dedicated corpsmembers of the CCC
have spent tens of millions of hours protecting the state’s natural resources by planting
millions of trees, maintaining trails and improving streams and fish habitat. They
respond to fires, floods, oil spills, earthquakes and other emergencies.
“At the CCC Foundation, our goal is to advance the training, leadership development,
personal growth and career opportunities for the young men and women of the CCC,
while protecting and enhancing California’s natural resources,” said Dan Savage, board
president. “Proposition 4 checks all the boxes. Dealing with the effects of climate
change is imperative, and the CCC stands ready to do its part.”
The Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit public benefit organization that supports the
CCC’s mission and programs through philanthropy. In addition to its endorsement, the
foundation has contributed $15,000 to the Prop. 4 campaign.
